Hello, I'm Jodi

I am a Mother, Wife, Teacher, Author and Business owner. I have two beautiful children, an Autistic son and a daughter with ADHD. On a professional level I have a Bachelor of Science as well as a Graduate Diploma of Education, I also have 20 years of experience working in the education system as a teacher (Early Childhood to all years of Primary School and High School) and in school leadership. I am passionate about helping parents and teachers to support children with ADHD and Autism.

I am also an Author and recently wrote and published a children's book on Autism, with the main character based on my son, to promote much needed understanding of Neurodiversity. Currently I am creating support resources for ADHD and Autism so people with these disorders can succeed, shine and thrive.

Over the years, as a parent, we have encountered numerous hurdles, including bullying, navigating the education system, and mental health battles for all of us. Accessing support is a challenge; psychologist waiting lists are long, and therapy can be expensive. Through these experiences, I've realized the scarcity of knowledge and resources available to foster awareness and understanding within our community. This realization has fueled my passion to provide support, resources, and tools for individuals with ADHD and Autism, enabling them not just to survive, but to thrive, shine, and succeed.

As neurodiversity becomes increasingly common, the need for support grows, especially in our classrooms, but resources remain limited. At Spectrum Support for Autism and ADHD, we aim to bridge this gap by providing resources to educators and parents, that offer support, skill-building, and understanding to promote awareness, inclusion, and acceptance.

Succeed - Thrive – Shine

Warm Regards

My Story

Parenting is undeniably challenging!

My journey began when my son was diagnosed with Autism at 5 years old, followed by my daughter's ADHD diagnosis at 10. Suddenly, I found myself on a steeper learning curve than I had ever imagined.

Parenting neurodiverse children adds layers of complexity that are both daunting and rewarding. Advocating for my children, providing support, creating safe environments for them to thrive socially, at home, and at school, and managing their mental health became my daily priorities. Alongside these efforts, I faced judgment, isolation, and questioning from others. Nevertheless, I remained steadfast in my commitment to do what was best for my children, even when others didn't understand.

Today, we're flourishing. My son is attending University, my daughter is completing her final high school exams, and I have the opportunity to pursue my passion for promoting ADHD and Autism awareness. Drawing from my 20 years of teaching and educational experience, as well as my years of parenting, I aim to share my lived and learned experiences of neurodiversity, specifically ADHD & Autism, and everything encompassed by these conditions.

Accessing support can be challenging, so I'm committed to bridging the gap by providing knowledge and support until professional therapy becomes available. Through resources, support, and tools, I aspire to empower individuals with ADHD and Autism to not just survive, but to thrive – both in the classroom and at home.

My Children

My children have been at the heart of everything I've done. They are my guiding light, my motivation, and the source of immense joy in my life.

My greatest achievement would be to help them navigate life, and I am endlessly proud of them. This pride will continue to grow forever.

I am proud of the individuals they have become, the obstacles they've conquered, their determination for success, and their kindness.

Shine bright, my beautiful children (now young adults).

With love,

Mum
