'This is Joel' book Reading at Corpus Christi College

I was lucky enough to be invited back to my old secondary school, Corpus Christi College who hosted a captivating ‘Meet the Authors’ event shining a spotlight on the accomplishments of two individuals within the College community. I was in attendance with Hamish Kelly, who recently graduated with my son. We have both authored insightful books addressing the unique challenges faced by Neurodiverse learners.

In his book, ‘Hamish - A Work in Progress’, Hamish Kelly shares his first hand experiences as a student with Dyslexia and I read my book ‘This is Joel’, a vibrant picture book which serves as an engaging introduction to Autism, drawing from my journey as a parent of a child with Autism to a large cohort of students, teachers and Executive team of the College and CEWA.

The event was a testament to the College's commitment to supporting the challenges faced by neurodiverse students and providing an inclusive and welcoming learning environment for all students.

Hamish's book 'A Work in Progress' can be purchased from Dyslexia SPELD Foundation

Be Autism Aware Workshops and Professional Learning

I have been honoured to provide tailored workshops at various schools, day care providers and sporting organisations for educational providers and teachers throughout the past 12 months. I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to tell 'our story' and to provide specific tips and tricks on how to make a safe and inclusive environment ensuring you set Autistic people up for success.

Working through what to Autism is and what is means for different people and how to make adjustments and workshop scenarios and case studies giving strategies you can use to build and create a safe and inclusive environment for all to enjoy absolutely warms my heart!
